Why You Should Do A Great Consultation

A lash appointment is composed of many parts. Arguably, the most important is the consultation section, especially if it is the first time that you are seeing that client. Continue reading to find out why and how to make sure you provide the best consultations possible!

Your initial consultation sets up your client’s first impression of you as a lash artist and your lash business; it allows your client to get to know you and the space they will receive the service. We all know that first impressions are crucial, so we want to make sure to leave a positive first impression and consultations play a big role in creating that positive first impressions. Clients want a lash artist who not only possesses impressive technical skills but makes them feel comfortable and heard. Consultations are an opportunity for you to assess your client’s needs and goals. Great consultations are key to helping clients feel heard and to make sure they are on the same page as you, their lash artist.

Consultations also allow expectations to be reviewed. Lash extensions are so popular nowadays that there are many misconceptions. To make sure your client has the best experience, expectations should be discussed to prevent any possible disappointment. Expectations can include discussing what the appointment will look like, what the lashing process is like, lash shedding and the need for fills, and aftercare education.

To ensure the most successful consultation, make sure to include the following points in your discussion:

  • If your client has lash extensions, ask them about their current lash extensions. What do they like about them? What do they dislike? What are they hoping for from a different artist?
  • If your client does not currently have lash extensions, but has in the past, you can ask them about their past experience with lash extensions. Why did they stop? What made them want to get lash extensions again?
  • If this is your client’s first time getting lash extensions, explore what made them interested in getting lash extensions. What are they hoping for? Why are they getting them? Is it for a special occasion? What is their understanding of lash extensions?
  • It is also important to discuss if your client has any allergies or medical conditions that you as their lash artist should be aware of

As a lash artist, you want to continuously provide great consultations to your clients whether they are a first-time client or regular client. It is important to make sure your clients always feel heard by you their lash artist. This way, your clients will always leave feeling their best and come back to you time and time again.
